Alfred Binet (8 July 1857 – 18 October 1911) was a French psychologist and educational reformer who directed the psychology laboratory at the Sorbonne. Co-creator of the Binet-Simon scale, Binet strongly opposed fixed views of human capability, writing in Modern Ideas About Children (1909) that intelligence is malleable and grows through patient education and effort.
